how do I make a small business logo on my own?

I’m creating a Web site for a small batch of cars used. I would generate a label to add the cards, the polo shirts and so on. If you design a brand, as we do not know that? something like it already? outside l? What use tools to do this on my pc? Can I use the clipart?   I do not want to employ someone if I can do this on my own. Want to save much money as I can. All ideas would be helpful!
